stanley and harold

I feel as if I have been woefully neglecting this blog working in my other life doing this kind of work.

Here's something I'd finished off for the craft fair
Stanley
Stanley is made from tweed with recycled vintage cotton scrap patch, behind his ears too. At first I thought I'd got a hair on the lense, but it is the 'Elepoo' paper he is posing against, made- you guessed it - from recycled elephant dung! I'm using the Elepoo paper for my labels too.

I have been thinking about 'opening' an online outlet and debating whether to go with Etsy or just keep it here on Typepad - maybe I'll do both! If anyone can refer an example good Typepad site where people are selling their work, please leave a comment..

Harold is also in need of a home...
Harold
Here he is tiptoeing through the crocii, in his patchwork suit of recycled 70's style funky fabric. All my elephants are stuffed with organic/or unbleached cotton wadding and named at birth when the eyes are sewn on. Elephants are £15 (plus p+p if you live faraway), or if you live locally I'll have them trot round.

Previous elephants and past work can also be viewed here.

This week I also attended the Entrading World Environment Day soirée with short talks on global warming, including Evan Williams who, as part of Al Gore's environmental campaign, showed excerpts from his "An Inconvenient Truth" lecture.

I was also really pleased to see my cards hanging up for sale in the shop, and tried their most delicious fairtrade vanilla latté!

those are seriously sweet elephants. i love the recycled tweedy look... but then the orange elly is so bright and happy too..

Wonderful, wonderful elephants, love the design and the fabrics!

Gorgeous little elephants! Etsy is cheap and easy. But I know one lady who successfully sells just through her blog,

http://littlecottonrabbits.typepad.co.uk/

you need to have the traffic coming through your blog to make it viable, and that is the advantage Etsy has. You could do both!

very very cute new elephants!
the only typepad site i know of that is a shop is sundara yarn: sundarayarn.typepad.com. i agree that it seems that with etsy you would have more traffic to the shop through searches, etc.
