autumn colours

Fuelled by cutting up Country Living magazines, or possibly by the recent arrival of Kaffe Fassett's Quilt Road (which I have been asking for, for years and eventually bought myself) where all the quilts are photographed outdoors,...

...I thought I would photo my latest makes in a friend's garden while the weather was good, as the light has been poor for indoor photography lately.

they are 2 little belts made as a gift for a 2-3 year old girl from recycled and reclaimed fabrics.

They were quite difficult and unusual to photograph. I tried a few different things... which attracted some attention...

Can you see what she's doing in there?...

...just about, if I stand on my hoof-tips...

...I'm not sure what it is, but I don't think it's something to eat...

By the way, is is slightly obsessive to lurk daily and ask if the new copy of 'Country Living' is in yet? N said he overheard an older lady sighing to her husband as she leaned on her stick - "it's not in yet".

Don't worry, I know the answer to that question... but there are some lovely photographs of autumnal colours in the November issue...

great belts. I try to use natural light as much as possible. I remember the Little Birds blog had a photography post that taught me that.

Belts are great C! Love, love, love the pony pictures - I want to stroke their velvety noses! You have brightened my dayx

Lovely belts- they look good and stiff. Maybe I need to try some interfacing??!!

Loving your pony pics, they could have come straight out of CL.

I've just used some stiff canvas in these belts, surely anything that doesn't colour bleed or show through will do - breaking the 'rules' old style as they would have done before 'products'! x

Oh I really love those cute little belts, and the pony pictures are wonderful.I wish those wee friends lived in my paddock!

I can sympathise with the natural light thing - I spent the moring with a friend who was taking a photo of my things on a mantlepiece for a flier - it was very frustrating trying to get the light right, always too cold, not that cosy, country feeling that is needed.
I left her with everything and she was going to try and take some photos outside . .
The ponies look very cute.

oh! those ponies... sigh.
the first thing i thought about your post today was... 'why isn't caireen working for 'country living' magazine?'
p.s. wonderful little belts- i think you are spot on with the fabrics for a 2-3 yr old girl. they look so bright and cheerful.
