I feel on this quilt, as if it is growing as I go along. Each piece or stage seems to have to adapt and change as I go... I have a rough plan in my head, and then I find another piece of the quilt, or it looks better this way...
Yesterday I added some red piping to the edges - reclaimed on a roll from a charity shop I'd had for ages. I'm not sure that technically it's right for this situation, probably for piping round edges and things - but I like it, and more importantly so does he.
The recipient of this quilt has also chosen dark blue check backing fabric which I am also going to use for the edges. I was going to use red, but when we went to Ikea they only had blue, and he chose blue. A much better choice in the end I think. This quilt may end up being the new banner for the patchwork dress, as like life, it's a bit wonky and unpredictable - and made up as I go along.
my life is often 'wonky and unpredictable' so i have gotten good at 'making it up as i go along'! the quilt is fantastically and wildly colourful... it is going to look amazing and it is sure to keep the recipient (N?) feeling cheerful!

That is a marvelous quilt. Very much puts me in mind of a jazz improvisation. The edging and red piping are just right!
