3 patchwork nelliphants - Hattie, Jasmine & Pip...
It's been a bit of a slow week this week, with much of it of my own making - including a couple of forages to buy more fabric - but have been feeling a real need to 'fill the well'. It sounded a bit echoey and empty down there - bucket clanking off the side.
I have a saying "it takes a lot of strawberries to make jam" which sounds as if it is an old proverb, but it isn't - I made it up... because I was trying to think of a way of explaining, if you want something rich and sweet it needs a lot of content - and for artists/creators I think this means inspiration. I hope that makes sense.
Now I may be a sappy, cappuccino seeking, magazine reading, fabric touching wimp - but I feel a lot better for it!
These patchwork elephants were made for a commission - one will be chosen and the other 2 will go on sale. I think some of the fabrics came from Sally Anne and Melissa. There are cottons, japanese and reclaimed checked fabric in these.
i like that you have named them... but it will be harder for your customer to choose lest they upset the other two!
i like your proverb .. i think it would work with blackcurrants too... as you do need lots and lots of them to make jam ... and i am hoping that R will transform our curranty pickings into some this weekend (fingers crossed).

Hi C
Sorry I've been out of touch. Love the nellies. I've been making pink grapefruit, orange and lemon marmalade this evening - tastes delicious and doesn't use too many ingredients; but all the chopping of the rind was a bit tedious - so I did less of it, cheated and included about half the rind; still looks and tastes fab, and no-one'll know I cheated.....!
