I was given a loan of this book to read by a colleague/friend (hi Rosie!) - and have been thinking this is the kind of book bloggers and people who read blogs would like. It's like a personal blog in a book..
I was a bit overwhelmed at the idea of reading A-Z, so I started at H, which is where N had bookmarked it. I immediately liked her entry on Hunger Prevention, and that way of eating something when you know you will be out at a meal time, in order to prevent the hunger you think you'd have if you didn't.
I liked that a lot - the entries trigger things, things you can relate to or think - I wouldn't have seen/done it that way, but I know what you mean. The sort of minutiae you think only your brain goes over, but when you read about it, is sort of life affirming if you know what I mean.
This morning I found myself thinking in an Amy K-R way - or maybe I always think like that, but now I have become conscious of it. I noticed when I pulled into the supermarket carpark that there was a car like ours - we have a little Kangoo van. And I always feel that they can see each other, and so I parked near it, because that felt cute. I also noticed it was the same colour as our old Kangoo - but had the tyre hubs painted the same colour as the car.
I thought of how sometimes, when you get rid of a car and you see one the same type and model a bit later, you look at the reg plate, just incase it is your old car. I used to have an N-reg red renault clio and I did this all the time whenever I saw one.
So there I was thinking, what if this is our old green van? The one we had prior to the one we have now... And then I remembered, we wrote that one off in an accident.
I may take some inspiration from this book and try some encyclopaedia entries of my own. Then I worried about copyright. Last night I noticed at the end of the book, Amy suggests you to try your own. Any one else want to join in?
...and now I have just looked up her blog and realised I have been here before, and seen the movies
as Ginny sent me the link almost a year ago... the book runs a bit deeper. This is the best one - makes me come out in a hot flush to watch.
Received a great package in the post yesterday from Diana as part of the Pay It Forward - so will post about that next week, and when I can remember what to do next! Diana is also doing a great giveaway if you leave a comment before Friday.
Thanks Caireen, I enjoyed that! Now I am off to try and make something lovely.x

You've reminded me, too...though not seen the book. You make it sound a good read. When I was looking for a new car, I suddenly saw 'my' model everywhere...and I always check out models that I previously owned, as such! They seem familiar...

Ps thanks for the link!

Hi Caireen
Thank you so much for this! I visited the film at you tube and loved it, so I've sent a link to various pals. The bit with the flowers brought tears to my eyes!
Enjoy your new perspective!
