This past weekend we spent 3 days in London, courtesy of a really good Greenbee (Expedia) deal - and stayed right beside St Paul's Cathedral here. The view above is from the dome of St Paul's looking over a new shopping centre towards the Gherkin etc.
We did A LOT of walking - 8 hours on the first day! and were so lucky with the location of our hotel that we could just walk down this pedestrian way and across the bridge to Tate Modern...
...or drop down to the Embankment.
This was the view from our hotel room - just catching the Dome of St Pauls and through to the plaza. One morning I watched a squirrel hop across to that little tree. The "bells" did keep going through the night, but it was quite comforting and a privilege to be so close to the cathedral. A couple of times I tried to count the chimes, but kept drifting back to sleep before they were done.
